The Tibet Autonomous Region, perched on the southwest Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is a southwestern frontier region in china. Breathtaking is hardly an adequate word for
Tibet’s landscape, which consists of snow-capped mountains of astonishing heights, primitive forests, vast steppes, mighty rivers, the world’s highest lakes, and exotic wildlife and plants.
Lhasa, Tsedang, Gyantse, Shigatse, Tingri, Zhangmu etc. are the most popular places in Tibet, for both normal and trekking itineraries.
For expedition, Mt. Everest and Mt. Kailish are the most exciting and accessible areas.
Tibetans, who make up upwards of 90 percent of the local population, are born singers and dancers with a splendid civilization. Buddhist art thrives, and among the region’s 2,700 temples are such famous ones as the Potala Palace, the Norbulinka Palace, the Jokhong Temple, and the Tashilhunpo Monastery.
Tibet's high altitude and the atmosphere allow the sun's solar radiation to strike the earth with unusual intensity. It's very easy to get sun-burnt there. Sunscreen of high sun protection factor, quality sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat are good means of protection. Calamine lotion is good for mild sun-burnt. Those with fair complexions should bring reflective sunscreen with them. Apply the sunscreen to your nose and lips as well.
High season marks the most popular times of the year for travel in Tibet, due to the weather, holiday periods or other reasons. Therefore hotels, airlines and Travel Agencies are heavily booked, and prices are higher than at other times.
The seasons are usually defined as follows:
High season: July 1 to October 15, Shoulder season: May 1 to June 30 & Low season: October 16 to April 30.
MONEY CHANGE:
US. DOLLARS $ is acceptable only in a very limited range, e.g. tips. However, for convenience, Chinese currency is the best choice.
If you want to change US$ to Chinese currency in Tibet, you can change in Lhasa Hotel or the Bank of China.
You won't have any problems finding an ATM in Lhasa and Shigatse, although you probably won't be able to find one in remote areas or the smaller towns. However, this situation is changing, and ATMs are gradually spreading out across the land.
Generally, it is quiet safe in Tibet. Since most Tibetans are devout Buddhists, who believe good deeds will accumulate merit in their next lives, crimes are rare. But tourists need pay attention to dogs!
Tibetan people are very kind and hospitable. You can feel free to talk with them.
|
| |
But there are some rulers you should go by:
1) Do not photo them without permission, please show the respect to them!
2) Do not talk about the sensitive topics like political or religious matters!
3) Do not eat dog, donkey or horse in Tibet!

On the Walking :
Religious beggars are an accepted part of society in Tibet. Giving money or food to a pilgrim is considered an act of merit. Donations of five fen to two Jiao (Chinese currency) are appropriate. Please note: if the beggars are the old men and women who dress in shredded, bulky clothes, while the younger ones may have a monkey on a chain, it¡¯s a spectacle of great interest to the Tibetans. These beggars are professionals, having less meritorious intentions than religious pilgrims. Just wave them off as the locals do if you don't want give anything. |

MY DEAR TOURISTS & TRAVELLERS
I have to say something for You All.
Think on this. I am sure that you can do it for you and for us.
See How:- Pristine beaches, breathtaking landscapes, portraits of local people and family photographs in unusual settings certainly constitute the most common images of holidays. All of us -or almost all of us- have a personal collection of such photographs from our touristic adventures. Given the nature of our work, we also try to photograph scenes that can illustrate our critical stance of mass tourism, scenes that can strike or amuse us, that can make us reflect on and wonder about the current situation of tourism.
We are currently looking for such ‘unusual’ photographs on tourism and were hoping that you would help us by sharing some of your images with us.
If you have photographs different from the usual holidays pictures and that question tourism practices, we are interested! We are looking for you. We are waiting for you.
We would feature them on our website and honour you with one of our Package deal for free and also with US. $ 2500 Cash gift to you.
